Free NYC Events List (Monday, 2/17/20-Sunday, 2/23/20)

What are some of your favorite free events? Some of my favorite free events include getting free chocolate, having my hair curled, and getting my makeup done! Luckily last week I got a free treats gift bag at the Mars Wrigley Sweet Retreat Pop-up, had my hair curled at the LIVELY x Beachwaver x Summer Water x Jiggy Pop-up, and had my makeup done at the CoverGirl Store! And yes, all this was done for free!

All 3 events had a small wait to enter, and at most I waited 5 minutes in line. The Mars Wrigley Sweet ReTREAT was less than 10 minutes walking from the LIVELY X Beachwaver X Summer Water x Jiggy event, and I only waited 5 minutes to get my hair done! For CoverGirl I had to take a train for 15 minutes from the LIVELY store and I waited less than a minute to get a free makeover! Going to these events were well worth it because the normal price tag would have easily been $110. For the free treats bag I would put a price tag of $10, hair blowout at $50, and makeup at $50. For $110 you can easily book a round trip flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles!

For this week’s free NYC event list expect free yoga, panel discussions, runs, movie screening of Joker, Photoshop, goal-getters workshop, comedy show, art painting class, swing dance lesson, and a discussion about understanding your financial statement.

Clothing swaps are a great way to meet new people, save money, and you also help the environment. At clothing swaps you usually donate 5+ items and you can take home “new to you” clothes.

Happy February! I kicked off the first day of February by going to a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a great way to meet new people, save money, and you also help the environment by recycling clothes. Depending on the clothing swap they are either free or charge a small fee. Most clothing swaps require you to donate 5+ items to enter, and you can usually take as much as you want at the clothing swap. However, please be mindful and do not hoard items from other people at the clothing swap.

For a recap of the clothing swap you can check my video here. In my video you can see the clothing swap layout, and the items I got from the clothing swap. This clothing swap was free to attend, and was very well organized. I would estimate that I easily saved $40 from going to this clothing swap instead of buying these clothes at a thrift shop. For steps on how to find a clothing swap, feel free to bookmark my article here. As always, please wash and dry your clothes from the clothing swap in hot water and high heat before wearing for sanitary reasons.

Free NYC Events List February 2020

You’re So Money! I met money expert Farnoosh Torabi at the Chase Financial Bingo event! Be sure to subscribe to her podcast So Money, if you want to learn more money tips.

Happy February! Are you still lining up with your goals? This month I’m pretty excited to go see Frequent Miler in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Greg (the founder of Frequent Miler) is hosting the FM to Go event on Sunday, February 16, 2020, and I cannot wait to learn more about making the best use of points. I previously saw Greg speak at Chicago Seminars in October 2019, and he is loaded with advice about travel hacking. If you thought the Points Guy was good, think again! So yes, I’m trying to stay on top of my 2020 goal of being better about travel hacking! I want to be better about points because who does not like saving money, free flights, and free hotel stays? That is my personal finance goal for 2020!

For this month’s free events expect yoga, snow sports in the park, clothing swap, and Photoshop lesson.

Please see below for a list of selected free events that are occurring in February 2020 in NYC. Please note, this post will be updated periodically, so please be sure to pin/bookmark and to check in from time to time for more events and updates.

Free NYC Events List (Monday, 1/27/20-Sunday, 2/2/20)

I won Patricia Schultz’s book (1000 Places to See Before You Die ) at the Boston Travel & Adventure Show, and I saw her speak at the New York Times Travel Show! For both events I was able to find free promo codes and saved $47 off the admission fees alone. Her book is also $25 on Amazon, and since I won the giveaway it was free!

It is the last week of January! Have you been enjoying your January so far? This past weekend, I was able to attend the New York Times Travel Show. The New York Times Travel Show is a great event to attend to learn more about travel from speakers and vendors. One of the speakers I met was Patricia Schultz! I won her book 1000 Places to See Before You Die at the Wanderful booth at the Boston Travel & Adventure Show, and was excited to see she was at the New York Times Travel Show.

I also used Patricia’s promo code to go to the New York Times Travel for free, and she also signed my book. For both events I found free promo codes and I saved $47 off the admission fees alone. Since I won her book, I also saved $25 from buying the book on Amazon. I was able to save $72 for taking less than 5 minutes of work for finding promo codes online. I am currently in the process of compiling the videos, photos, and notes from both shows, so stay tuned for my recap and tutorial of how to find free promo codes.

Free NYC Events List (Monday, 1/20/20-Sunday, 1/26/20)

My favorite free event last week was the painting class. All the materials were provided, and and I forgot how relaxing painting can be! Painting classes in New York can cost $35, and this one was free! For $35 you can easily book a round trip bus ticket from New York to Boston or Washington DC.

Can you believe that January is already halfway gone? Time is flying by! In my last post, I mentioned how I was able to go to 2 free conferences in January. I was able to attend the Yoga Expo in Los Angeles for free, and Travel and Adventure Show in Boston for free. This week, luckily there is a free conference in New York, which is the New York Times Travel Show!

At the New York Times Travel Show you can expect a lot of exhibitors from destinations around the world, and there are also a lot of speakers where you can learn travel tips. Last year, two of my friends even won giveaways for trips, and there were also good discounted vacation packages from the exhibitors.

If you want to learn about how I find free conferences please go here. Another fun read is also how if you do not want to pay to see a conference speaker, you can also find them speaking for free at events here.

For this week’s edition of the free NYC event list expect a lot of panels, finance, and wellness events. My top pick would be the New York Times Travel Show and the travel networking events.

Panels: MLK Now with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,  J.Cole, and others, Influencer Marketing Strategy, Female Founder Panel, New York Times Travel Show

Finance: Investing in Stock Market, Planning for the Unexpected, and Choosing a Financial Planner

Wellness: mindbodygreen x Vthrive The Vitamin Shoppe Brand, Amazon Treasure Truck (workouts), HIIT, Yoga Classes, Pure Barre, Running Clubs

Free NYC Events List (Monday, 1/13/20-Sunday, 1/19/20)

Star Wars pop up! Going to the Dolby store is pretty helpful if you need help deciding between watching a movie in IMAX, 3D, and Dolby Cinema. You are able to test out Dolby products, which helps in decision making for either splurging or not splurging on Dolby products.

Happy January! I hope you are enjoying the year so far. For the past 2 weekends, I have been able to go to free conferences. Finding the promo codes took less than 1 minute of work and at each conference I learned a lot and had fun. So far, I have been to the Yoga Expo and Travel and Adventure Show.

For this week’s edition of the free NYC event list expect book club, workouts, influencer panel, the band Echosmith, negotiation training , and hands on art painting workshops.

Free NYC Events List (Monday, 1/6/20-Sunday, 1/12/20)

The Beatles pop up was filled with cute Beatles memorabilia. It also reminded me that my last trip to London was in 2012. Looks like I need to get on my goal of travel hacking to book another trip, since it has been 8 years!

Happy 2020! I hope you are enjoying the new year! Do you have any new goals for the new year? My goal for 2020 is to learn more about travel hacking and using points for travel. I need to be better about maximizing points because who does not like exploring, free flights, and free hotel stays?

For this week’s edition of the free NYC event list expect Instagram-able pop ups from Tiffany and Co., Jumanji, and Truvia. Other events include Elizabeth Warren, BumbleBff x FaceGym, HIIT workout, dog yoga, comedy potluck, and yoga with journaling.
